How to Start a Toastmasters Club
How to Start a Toastmasters Club
Toastmasters groups are formed every day in a variety of settings. Groups meet onsite at corporations, churches, community centers, and restaurants. Community clubs are generally open to anyone, while company clubs are often limited to employees of the company and are closed to outside members.
The process to form a Toastmasters club is simple and all of the materials are provided for you. You can start a Toastmasters group onsite at your organization, college, university, or you can start a local group in your community.
The Process:
- Find at least 20 people who want to improve their communication and leadership skills
- Determine a meeting location to get together about an hour per week
- Contact your local Toastmaster representative
- Complete your first official meeting
The Costs:
- $125.00: One time chartering fee
- $20.00 New-Member Fee per person (Covers education manuals)
- $36: Six months' membership dues per person
- Each group can charge supplementary dues per month to help cover expenses (Ex: $1.00-$2.00 per month)
